When I first heard about Spider-man being made into a Broadway musical, huge neon WTF signs started going off in my head. I wasn’t sure if it would work. The neon WTFs lessened when I learned that Julie Taymor was going to direct and that Bono and The Edge wrote the score. Still, the thought of Spidey singing and prancing around in his skin tight costume put me off.
I stumbled upon an old article from film.com that kind of made me change my mind a little bit. I find the thought of a man in spandex singing kind of disturbing. But apparently, Spidey never sings, only Peter Parker does. What a relief.
So maybe it could work.
